The Town of Big Sandy has a new Police Chief. He is Jim Sukash, a resident of the Big Sandy area. Jim has an impressive resume of law enforcement credentials. He has served as Police Chief of the US Coast Guard Academy Police Department in New London CT; He has served on the US Coast Guard Tactical Law Enforcement Team North-Hampton Roads, Va; US Coast Guard Integrated Support Command Police Department-Kodiak, AK. He has 20 plus years experience with the U.S. Marine Corps and US Coast Guard.
The Big Sandy Chamber of Commerce met on Monday night to make plans for the annual Spring Festival coming up on memorial Day weekend. For the last several years the Festival has been a three day event but the Chamber has decided to make this years festival only a two-day event.
There will be a seminar to explain Veterans Benefits on Saturday January 27 from 10am-2pn at the Big Sandy Senior Citizens Center.
